The first thing that you want to do it to change your eating habits because too many people make the mistake of believing that eating 3 big meals a day is what you are supposed to do because that is what you were taught to do.

The key is to eat 5 to 6 small meals a day instead of 3 large ones. By eating more meals every day you will be able to keep your metabolism working to burn fat. When you stop eating your metabolism will slow down or stop altogether and this is when the fat starts hanging around on your body.

For losing weight, one needs to do both strength training and aerobic exercises. This helps lungs and heart to become stronger and the body starts utilizing the oxygen more efficiently.  A suitable exercise routine is helpful to lose weight, but it must also be continued to maintain the weight in long term.

During summers, water is a perfect place to do some exercise and lose weight.  Swimming is one of the best weight loss exercises, and a good way to work the cardiovascular system.

Aerobic exercise increases the heart rate and is an excellent weight loss exercise.Enter the shallow end, and do 90 seconds each of squats, walking lunges and leg lifts to back and the side.

Aerobic dance, bicycling, walking, swimming, stepping etc are some great forms of aerobic exercise.If you live in cold places, you can look for heated pools.

Squats are also quite effective fat burner and muscle builder.Small things like doing daily household chores, taking the stairs, drinking water and walking can aid the weight loss.

In addition to swimming, you can also use stairs and jogging. However, make sure that you don’t lose the natural arch of your spine. With the squeeze in your glutes, push yourself back to the starting position.

V-up and roll is a great weight loss exercise. This is just a variation of crunches, however work smarter by reducing the stress on the back and work harder by using more muscles. Be practical, and avoid doing too much too soon. While working out, listen to the body and understand the cues.  Contract your abdominal muscles and lift your legs off the floor while folding your body up.
